ABOUT ME

I started my coaching journey with the intention to help people find happiness and contentment in their sport, education, work and life.

My background and experience in elite sport, further education, work, health and wellbeing, allows me to help others

and so improve their lives for the better.

I strongly believe in being genuine, empathetic, honest and trustworthy. I also believe my realistic and non-judgemental approach to coaching, allows me to develop rapport with clients and build the strong relationships required for successful coaching partnerships.

  • I am an accredited Personal Performance Coach and Member of the International Coaching Federation.

  • I have a diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

  • I am also a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)

  • and currently an Independent Member on the ‘Performance Wellbeing Group’, for British Canoeing.

My Background:

  • I started working in Human Physiology at the University of Nottingham in 1990, and have a Masters Degree focussing on Bone Mineral Density Research.

As a Research and Teaching Fellow in Human Physiology, I supported both Undergraduate and Post Graduate students studying Physiology, Sport and Exercise Science, and Medicine, for over 30 years.

  • I was an International Wild Water Racing Canoeist for many years and competed at several European, World Cup and World Championship events, becoming a World Championship Team Bronze Medallist in 1993.

  • I have also been a Kayak Coach, Mentor, Club Secretary and Co-Founder of a local Sprint Racing Canoe Club.

  • Whilst married to another Ex-International canoeist, I am also the parent of one and have supported our son and many of his peer group over the years. It was for this reason that I decided to train with The Coaching Academy, to become an accredited Personal Performance Coach and develop the skills to help others achieve success in all aspects of their life.

Time to Relax:

I have always enjoyed keeping fit and participating in a variety of sports. I still occasionally go canoeing for fun, but more recently I enjoy running and participating in the odd 10Km Trail running event.

To help maintain muscle strength, vital for us all as we age, I regularly go to our local Gym and also practise Yoga.

I love travelling and exploring new places, hill walking, wild swimming and a little bit of gardening.

I do have some downtime and love to socialise with friends and family, and of course read….. there’s always something to learn!
